Greenfields Greyhound Rescue - Homes Needed

We have been contacted by Greenfields Greyhound Rescue as there are lots of lovely dogs waiting for homes and although sadly it is no fault of theirs they are being over looked. If you are interested in taking on a greyhound they make smashing pets and contrary to popular belief don't need that much exercise!

We have a number of greyhounds that have been in our care for a number of months. Some dogs have been with us for more than a year. These poor Greyhounds are being overlooked because they are black or because they are not too good with small dogs or cats. They are safe in foster homes or our rescue centre. They see other dogs come and go while they remain and hope for their forever homes.

Can you help us? Do you know of anyone who might consider taking on one of these beautiful animals? Have you space in your home or heart to take on one of these lovely greyhounds?

Betsy
BETSY is looking for a special home and would be best as an only dog or would be fine with male dogs. She is a dominant bitch but is a really loving people orientated girl.  Betsy had a very rough start and was going to be put to sleep in the dog pound. We really don’t know her history but we do know that she is not cat or small dog safe. She loves her toys, and craves to have her forever home, so she can play and find the love she deserves.

Big Joe
BIG JOE is a beautiful big dark brindle greyhound, he is good with all dogs, and would really enjoy family life. We believe that he would make a fantastic companion dog. Joe loves every one. He came into the rescue after his racing days ended and now is looking forward to a nice cosy retirement.

Freddie
FREDDIE is a cheeky chap, full of fun and love. This is a dog with a huge personality and a love of life. He is good with other dogs but is not cat safe. If you could offer him a home, life would never be dull with Freddie. He is such fun, but you might need a rather large toy basket as he does love his teddies.

Jack
JACK is gorgeous and is only five years old. He is very overlooked having come to us over a year ago and was very nervous. Over time in his foster home he has come on by leaps and bounds. He loves all the cuddles he can get. While he is still slightly timid he is great with all other greyhounds and medium dogs. He is not cat safe.

Case of the Month February 2014 - Should Have been Semple

Sidney John is a 12 year old large breed cross breed who is owned by one of our nurses. In the past we have featured a case of the month where a dog was suspected to have a twisted stomach, its not normally an operation that worries me sadly no matter what you do it is a fifty fifty chance. However my heart sank when I had a phone call from my nurse saying her own dog had eaten a whole bag of dry food 4 times his normal daily ration and he was bloated. I met Sidney John and his mum at the surgery and took an xray of Sidneys stomach.

Sidney's full story is on our Sidney Case of the Month Feb 2014

New Memorial Page

It is always nice to get photos from our clients, but quite often people also comment as it reminds them of friends they have lost. This is especially in the case of clients such as Dot, Tracey and Olive. These three are very good clients of ours and to help (we hope ) we have started our own memorial page and people are welcome to use the link to send us pictures and a short message about pets we have lost but still live in our hearts.
