Betsi is a 4 year old female cat that
was brought in over the first May bank holiday as an emergency. She was
found by her owners in their garden unable to walk or stand properly on
her back legs.
When Betsi was examined at the practice,
she was found to have scraped claws on her back paws and her right
front paw. She had no other visible injuries but was not able to stand
properly or walk on her back legs.
We were suspicious that she may have
been hit by a car since scuffed claws are quite a common finding in cats
who have been hit, as they dig their claws in to try to stop themselves
from being moved by the impact. We couldn't feel any obvious fractures
of her hind limbs themselves, but her pelvis felt a little unstable when
her legs were moved ....
