In response to our microchipping offer (half price microchips till the end of June)

We have had two clients email with questions to  clarify. It is not yet compulsory that dogs are microchipped, but here is the official line

Wales

The Welsh Government consulted on proposal to introduce compulsory microchipping of dogs in August 2012. 84% of respondents supported the proposal and the Welsh Government has said that they hope to introduce legislation around compulsory microchipping later in 2013 with a view to it coming into force before 6 April 2016.

Also the microchip is the size of a grain of rice. It contains a number that is unique to the animal it is implanted into. This numbers is then kept on a central database with all the owner information stored on it.

This weekend we have reunited two dogs with their owners one a Jack Russell was a local but Bob the dalmation was here on holiday and thankfully his microchip had a mobile number so he was reunited and able to continue on his holidays!
